Vietnam Cycling Adventure: Explore the Hidden Wonders of Northeast Vietnam 🚴♂️🌿
Embark on an unforgettable journey through Northeast Vietnam, where breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage come together to create the ultimate cycling adventure. 🚵♀️🌍
Starting from the vibrant capital of Hanoi, we ride into the untouched beauty of the Ha Giang region—a destination filled with dramatic limestone karsts, winding roads, and stunning valleys. Each turn offers mesmerizing views, from terraced rice fields cascading down mountainsides to isolated tribal communities that have preserved their traditions for generations.
🌄🏞️Along the way, we connect with local Red Dao, Tay, White Hmong, and Lo Lo communities, experiencing their way of life firsthand. From lively market visits to encounters with wildlife like water buffalo, pigs, and horses, every moment is an immersion into Vietnam’s authentic heritage. 🏯🐎
🍃Our adventure culminates with a visit to the legendary Halong Bay, the world’s largest marine limestone karst landscape. We set sail aboard a traditional wooden junk, drifting between towering cliffs and emerald-green waters. 🛶
🌊 The bay’s geological evolution spans over 20 million years, making it a place of immense natural beauty and historical significance. While evidence suggests humans inhabited these islands tens of thousands of years ago, today most remain untouched, teeming with unique flora and fauna. 🦜🌴

Lao Cai & Cycling to Bac Ha 🚴♂️⛰️ Lao Cai, the principal town of Lao Cai Province in Northeastern Vietnam, sits on the border with Yunnan Province, China. Following the Vietnam-China war, the border remained closed from 1979 to 1993, and much of the town’s architecture has been modernized since then. Today, Lao Cai serves as a key trading hub and a popular stopover for travelers heading between Hanoi, Sapa, and Kunming, China. Upon arrival at 6:30 AM, we enjoy breakfast at a local restaurant 🍜☕ before beginning our cycling journey. The ride starts with 45 km of gently inclining sealed roads, leading to a challenging mountain pass en route to Bac Ha. The final 15 km push features a demanding 800-meter climb on unsealed roads, where the rugged terrain tests our endurance. The reward? Spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Bac Ha is renowned for its delicious plums, thriving in the forested hillsides—a sweet treat at the end of an exhilarating ride! 🍑🏞️ |
