The terrain is mostly flat and enjoyable, making it a smooth and rewarding ride. Along the way, we pause for refreshments and take in the ever-changing scenery of riverside villages and open countryside.

Board a small local boat and cruise quietly along the river, where—with a bit of luck—you’ll witness these endangered freshwater dolphins surfacing in their natural habitat.

Back on the bikes, the route shifts to peaceful dirt roads and quiet village paths, offering a more adventurous feel as you ride through remote communities and untouched countryside. Expect warm smiles, curious locals, and a strong sense of connection to the land.

Today marks a special milestone as we leave Cambodia and enter Laos, beginning a new chapter of the Mekong journey.

After breakfast, a short transfer brings us to the Cambodia–Laos border. Here, we say goodbye to our Cambodian crew before being welcomed by our Laotian team. Once formalities are completed, we continue toward one of the Mekong’s most powerful natural wonders—Khone Phapheng Falls, the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia.

From here, we begin cycling through the peaceful landscapes of southern Laos. The scenery shifts subtly—quieter roads, stilted wooden houses, and a slower rhythm of life. Along the way, you’ll witness fishermen casting nets, children returning from school, and countless authentic “Kodak moments” that define this region.

We stop for lunch in the stunning 4,000 Islands (Si Phan Don) area, where the Mekong spreads into a maze of waterways and islands. In the afternoon, continue riding along scenic country roads to Don Det, a tranquil island known for its relaxed atmosphere and riverside views.

Wake up to the calm rhythm of island life before setting off to explore one of the Mekong’s most unique regions—Si Phan Don, or the “4,000 Islands.”

Today’s ride is all about discovery. Cycle along narrow island paths and quiet dirt roads, crossing the river multiple times by small local ferries as you move from one island to another. Each crossing reveals a slightly different world—rice paddies, coconut groves, water buffalo grazing, and traditional wooden homes raised on stilts.

The pace is relaxed, giving you time to truly absorb the peaceful atmosphere and interact with local communities. This is Laos at its most untouched—simple, authentic, and deeply connected to the river.

A highlight of today is the visit to Wat Phou, a UNESCO-listed temple complex dating back to the 12th century during the Khmer Empire. Set at the base of a sacred mountain, this atmospheric site offers a fascinating glimpse into the region’s spiritual and architectural history. We take time to explore the ruins and learn about its cultural significance.

Just nearby, we visit Haw Phra Kaew, once the royal temple of the Lao kingdom, now a museum showcasing religious art and artifacts.

We continue to the iconic Pha That Luang, the most sacred monument in Laos. Covered in gold, this national symbol reflects centuries of spiritual devotion and remains a centerpiece of Lao identity.

After a relaxed lunch at a local restaurant, the afternoon brings a cultural touch with a visit to a textile gallery, where you’ll see traditional dyeing and weaving techniques still practiced today.
