Mekong Delta Discovery & Cycling Adventure 🚴♂️🌴
At 8:00 AM, our team will pick you up from your hotel to begin an exciting journey toward the gateway of the Mekong Delta — My Tho. After about an hour and a half transfer, we’ll pause for a short break before continuing another 30 minutes to the cycling start point, where your bike and support crew await.
Our ride begins along narrow concrete paths weaving through lush coconut gardens. Here, you’ll get the chance to savor the freshest coconut imaginable — literally from tree to table in just a minute! After a refreshing break, we follow peaceful country roads, crossing several small ferries designed just for bicycles, adding a charming touch to the adventure.
Next, we reach the mighty Mekong River, where we take the final ferry crossing to Tra Vinh. From there, it’s a scenic 7 km ride along smooth tarmac to our hotel, where you can relax and reflect on the day’s discoveries. 🌅
|
|
Day 3: TRA VINH - CAN THO
|
Cycling through the Mekong Delta & Cultural Exploration 🚴♂️🌾
After breakfast at the hotel, we begin our cycling adventure heading towards the Khmer Museum to delve deeper into the rich culture and heritage of the Khmer people in the Mekong Delta. Our route takes us along quiet country lanes, easy dirt paths, and charming trails—this is cycling at its most authentic.
Pedal along narrow concrete roads winding through the heart of rice paddies, observe the vibrant daily life along the riversides, and pass by quaint delta homes. Along the way, pause to greet friendly villagers and cross countless wooden bridges that clatter beneath your wheels.
We’ll cross a narrow canal aboard a local sampan before cycling through lush fruit orchards on a peaceful island. After a ferry ride to reach the island and back, there’s plenty of time to explore side trails and hidden tracks.
Finally, we board a van for a short transfer to Can Tho, the vibrant capital of Southwest Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region, where we stay overnight in a comfortable local hotel.
|
|
Day 4: CAN THO- LONG XUYEN
|
Floating Markets & Mekong Discovery Ride 🚣♂️🚴♀️
After an early breakfast, we set off on a boat ride to the famous Cai Rang Floating Market—one of the largest and liveliest in the Mekong Delta. Drift through a vibrant world of boats piled high with fruits, vegetables, and local goods, and witness the buzz of trade that defines life on the water.
From here, we begin our cycling journey toward Phong Dien, following a narrow paved path along the riverbanks. The morning comes alive as we pass through bustling riverside markets, timber yards, coconut processing stalls, and local rice loading docks. The Mekong’s cottage industries unfold right before your eyes, offering an intimate glimpse into everyday life.
We continue pedaling along tiny concrete roads through peaceful villages and lush countryside, eventually reaching a tranquil bird sanctuary. After a relaxing visit, a few more kilometers on winding paths take us toward the main road, where we’ll hop on the van for a short transfer to Long Xuyen for the night.
|
|
Day 5: LONG XUYEN - CHAU DOC
|
Cycling to Chau Doc: Where History Meets the Borderlands 🚴♀️🌿
This morning, the scenery shifts once again. After a short transfer to Tri Ton, we hop on our bikes and begin cycling through gently rolling terrain, where the Mekong Delta starts giving way to rugged landscapes and distant mountains. As we edge closer to the Cambodian border, rows of tall thot not (sugar palm) trees appear—an iconic sign that we’re nearing a cultural crossroads.
Local life changes noticeably here: many villagers speak Khmer as their first language and Vietnamese as their second. The afternoon takes us to one of the region’s most sobering historical sites—Bà Chúc, known as the “killing fields of Vietnam,” where over 3,000 Vietnamese civilians were massacred by the Khmer Rouge in 1978.
Depending on road conditions, we’ll either continue cycling along the border route or backtrack to Tri Ton before riding scenic country roads all the way to Chau Doc. Those with energy left in the tank can take on the short but rewarding hike up Sam Mountain for panoramic sunset views over rice fields and into Cambodia.
|
|
Day 6: CHAU DOC-PHNOMPENH (BY BOAT)
|
Crossing Into Cambodia by Speedboat & Discovering Phnom Penh 🇻🇳🛥️🇰🇭
After breakfast at the hotel, we begin a new chapter of our adventure as we transfer to the pier and board a speedboat bound for Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s lively capital city. The scenic journey along the Mekong River takes approximately 4.5 hours, offering views of riverside life as we glide from Vietnam into Cambodia.
At the border, you’ll obtain your Cambodian visa on arrival (USD 30–40 depending on nationality). Be sure to bring your passport and a passport-sized photo for the visa process.
Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, we enjoy lunch at a riverside restaurant with views of the bustling waterfront. In the afternoon, explore the cultural and historical heart of the city with visits to the Royal Palace, the dazzling Silver Pagoda, and the National Museum—home to Cambodia’s finest collection of ancient Khmer art and artifacts.
As the sun sets, we gather for dinner and settle in for the night in this energetic capital.
|
|
Day 7: PHNOM PENH - KAMPONG CHAM
|
Cycling the Mekong Trails to Kompong Cham 🚴♀️🌾🇰🇭
This morning, we bid farewell to the energetic streets of Phnom Penh and begin our cycling journey toward the tranquil town of Kompong Cham. After a 40 km transfer out of the city, we hop on our bikes and follow a peaceful route that hugs the banks of the Mekong River.
The road is mostly unpaved and occasionally bumpy, but the surrounding scenery more than makes up for it. Shaded by tall trees and lined with traditional wooden homes, the route offers an intimate glimpse into daily Cambodian life. Expect friendly waves and curious smiles as you pass through quiet villages where locals cook, do laundry, tend their animals, and dry vibrant red chilies, black pepper, rice, and fish right along the roadside.
Monks in saffron robes, children cycling to school, and glimpses of the mighty Mekong reappearing between homes and trees create a rich, moving tapestry of rural life. Don’t be surprised if villagers call out cheerful greetings as you pause for water breaks in the shade.
Upon arriving in Kompong Cham, you'll notice remnants of French colonial architecture still standing—aged yet elegant—alongside more modern structures. After checking into the hotel, feel free to explore this sleepy riverside town on foot, soaking in its laid-back charm and timeless character.

|
Day 8: KAMPONG CHAM -SIEM REAP
|
Cycling Through Rubber Plantations to the Lost Temple of Beng Mealea 🚴♂️🌿🏛️
We begin our day with an early departure from Kompong Cham, cycling away from the bustling highway and into the serenity of the Cambodian countryside. Our morning route winds through quiet backroads that gradually rise and pass beneath the shade of endless rubber plantations—peaceful, green, and fragrant.
After covering approximately 75 km by bike, we reach the small rural town of Prey Thom Tratrav. From here, we take a well-deserved rest and board the support vehicle for a scenic 150 km transfer toward Dom Dek, a lively market town that buzzes with local trade and rural charm.
Once at Dom Dek, we’re back in the saddle for a final 30 km ride to one of Cambodia’s most mysterious treasures: Beng Mealea temple. Largely swallowed by the jungle, this ancient site is a stunning example of nature reclaiming human creations. Towering trees split apart the stone corridors, vines wrap around crumbling statues, and shafts of sunlight pierce the leafy canopy, casting ethereal light on moss-covered ruins.
Exploring Beng Mealea feels like stepping into an Indiana Jones adventure—raw, wild, and deeply atmospheric. After time spent wandering its secret passages, we travel by vehicle to Siem Reap, where a cozy hotel awaits for a restful night.

|
Day 9: SIEM REAP - ANGKOR WAT COMPLEX
|
Cycling the Sacred Trails of Angkor 🚴♂️🌿
After breakfast at the hotel, we set off on a scenic cycling adventure that begins with a short stretch of city traffic before quickly escaping into the quiet countryside. Our route winds along shady, bumpy village roads and into jungle trails that offer rare glimpses of local life around the temples—children playing, farmers tending to fields, and monks walking beneath ancient trees.
Our first stop is the majestic Angkor Thom, once the last great capital of the Khmer Empire. At the heart of the complex lies Bayon Temple, a captivating structure famed for its 54 towers adorned with over 200 enigmatic, smiling stone faces. We’ll explore this spiritual site before hopping back on the bikes.
The ride continues to the mysterious Ta Prohm temple, dramatically entwined with the massive roots of fig trees and towering creepers. Left largely as it was found, Ta Prohm has a haunting, jungle-clad beauty that makes it a favorite among visitors. Built in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII in dedication to his mother, the temple offers a peaceful and shaded place for reflection.
From here, we follow the “small circuit” past Ta Keo—an imposing mountain temple—and ride onwards to the legendary Angkor Wat. This awe-inspiring complex, considered the largest religious monument in the world, is the pinnacle of Khmer architecture. With its iconic lotus towers and intricate bas-reliefs, Angkor Wat is not just a wonder of Cambodia, but of the world.

|
Day 10: SIEM REAP- BAN TEAY SREI- SIEMREAP
|
Cycling to Banteay Srei & Kbal Spean 🚴♂️🌾
We begin our day early, setting off on bikes along scenic country roads leading north of Siem Reap. The ride offers a peaceful glimpse into rural Cambodia, where endless rice fields stretch across the horizon, traditional stilt houses dot the landscape, and monks chant in the golden morning light at nearby pagodas.
By midday, we arrive at the stunning Banteay Srei—known as the “Citadel of Women.” Built in 967 A.D. and dedicated to the Hindu god Brahma, this intricately carved temple is crafted from rare pink sandstone and is famed for having the most detailed and refined stonework in all of Angkor. It’s a masterpiece of classical Khmer art.
After lunch, we continue cycling towards Kbal Spean, also known as the River of a Thousand Lingas. A short trek takes us to the site, where carvings of Hindu deities and lingas etched into the riverbed lie hidden beneath the forest canopy. This sacred site is both spiritual and serene.
On the return journey to Siem Reap, we stop at the Cambodian Landmine Museum. Founded by Mr. Akira, a former child soldier turned humanitarian, the museum highlights his lifelong mission to clear Cambodia’s countryside of deadly remnants of war. It’s a sobering yet inspiring visit that adds depth to the day’s adventure.
