Welcome to Southern Laos, the gateway to the mighty Mekong River and one of Southeast Asia's most rewarding cycling regions. Upon arrival in Pakse, you'll be transferred to your hotel and have time to relax or explore the city's riverside promenade, local markets, and French colonial influences. In the evening, meet your guide and fellow riders for a tour briefing and welcome dinner. |

Leave the Mekong lowlands behind as you cycle into the scenic Bolaven Plateau, a fertile highland region renowned for its cool climate, volcanic soil, and world-famous coffee plantations. Continue riding through the plateau to the spectacular Tad Fane Waterfall, where twin cascades plunge dramatically into a deep jungle valley. Take time to explore this remarkable archaeological site, set against the backdrop of the sacred Phou Kao Mountain and considered a precursor to the temples of Angkor. From Wat Phou, begin cycling along the scenic banks of the Mekong River, passing traditional villages, rice fields, and peaceful countryside landscapes. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your ride to a ferry crossing. Board a local ferry to Don Daeng Island, where you'll experience a slower pace of life and authentic rural Laos. Continue across the island before taking a second ferry back to the mainland. Following the ride, transfer south to Don Khong, the largest island in the famous 4,000 Islands region. After breakfast, leave the peaceful islands behind and begin your journey toward the Laos–Cambodia border. Before crossing into Cambodia, visit the spectacular Khone Phapheng Waterfall, the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia by volume and one of the most impressive natural attractions along the Mekong River. Watch as millions of liters of water surge through a maze of rapids and cascades, creating a breathtaking display of nature's power. Continue south through the rural landscapes of southern Laos, passing small villages and agricultural communities before arriving at the international border. After completing immigration formalities, cross into Cambodia where your Cambodian support team will be waiting to welcome you. From the border, transfer to the riverside town of Stung Treng, located on the banks of the Mekong River. The remainder of the afternoon is free to relax, explore the town, or enjoy the peaceful riverside atmosphere as you prepare for the Cambodian section of your adventure. |
